Today is the day! Grave War is out in the wild!  I hope you love this story. I'm thrilled to share it. Thanks for reading!  (Note: The print and ebook should be available. The audio book will be coming. I'm not sure of the release date, but I approved a cover for it, so it is coming.)

Sorry for the long silence everyone. I hope to have an update for you soon. In the mean time, I wrote a short story that is set in the Alex Craft world and will be hitting shelves tomorrow in the anthology  KICKING IT.  My story in KICKING IT is called RUBY RED and follows Briar Darque on a case. It doesn't relate directly to Alex's tale, but timeline-wise, it falls between Grave Dance and Grave Memory. This anthology is packed full of great stories from authors I'm sure you know well, including Rachel Caine, Chloe Neill, and Faith Hunter. I'm super thrilled to have been involved with the project and I hope that you'll check it out. It will hit stores everywhere tomorrow,  December 3rd. Enjoy!

Things have been busy here lately, so I apologize for the lack of posts, but today I'm very happy to reveal the cover for THIRD BLOOD! I really love this cover--it fits the story wonderfully. So what do you think? Oh, and don't forget--Tonight I'll be in Rockhill with Faith Hunter and D B Jackson at the Booknack. I hope to see you there!

I can't believe we are at 11 days and counting until the release of GRAVE DANCE. Which means it's time to share the final excerpt from the book. The first section of chapter two is now live on the excerpt page . I hope you enjoy! In the next couple days I'll be announcing my blog tour. Things have been so busy that I'm a bit behind on my scheduling, but be on the look out for dates and locations. And speaking of tours, have you heard about the FANTASTICAL MYSTERY TOUR ? This huge, five author event that will have two panels, a question and answer session, goodies, a signing, and door prizes--including a FREE NOOK (or equivalent gift card)! It will be Saturday, July 9th from 5:00-8:00pm at the Barnes and Noble on Forest Drive in Columbia, SC. This event will also double as the official release party for Grave Dance, so as you can guess, I'm super excited. Here is some more information: Event Schedule: 5-6pm: Short panel and an open-forum question and ...

Today is the day, and I am very pleased to reveal the cover for the second Alex Craft novel, GRAVE DANCE. I could build this up a bit, but I think I'll just splash the cover and not keep you waiting in further suspense. So, what do you think? Personally, I think it's absolutely striking. It retains the ethereal and contemplative aspect of the Grave Witch cover while the closer crop and forward angle of Alex's body adds an edge of power and assertiveness. The cityscape visible behind the cemetery is a gorgeous touch, and I love that they kept the subdued blue greys overall  with just a single splash of brilliant of color with Alex's shirt (green this time). In short, I love it and I absolutely cannot wait to see it on the shelf beside the first book! Happy hump day everyone!

It's finally here: RELEASE DAY! GRAVE WITCH should now be available at all major bookstores and about anywhere books are sold online. Here are some convenient links to online sellers, or check your local brick and mortar store. Amazon Barnes and Noble Books a Million Borders The Book Depository Also, don't forget that I have a Virtual Release Party starting at noon today over at Bitten By Books . I'll be chatting with party goers and even giving out a $50 amazon gift certificate, so don't forget to stop by! I'm going to go over there and continue squeeing and doing my happy dance. ^_^ Happy release day everyone!

We are one day from the official release of Grave Witch, and I can hardly believe it. (Actually, according to the countdown widget we are at just under 10hrs because the book is technically released at midnight--but bookstores won't be open so lets say a day.) Reports of sightings are pouring in, and I'm already finding myself checking the amazon and B&N stats (even though those don't really tell me how well the book is doing). Reviews are also really cropping up now, and I'll link to some of those in a minute. In the meantime, I want to point out the two big events happening this week: The Virtual Release Party at Bitten by Books, and the Release Party/Signing in Columbia. The Virtual Release Party will be tomorrow, October 5th (release day!) starting at noon over at Bitten by Books .  I'll be talking about closed vs open worlds in urban fantasy, about Grave Witch (of course), and basically anything else book/world building/etc people would like chat abou...

Despite signing a waiver which stated that I could die during my firearms training this weekend, I have returned safe and sound from the Writers' Police Academy . I cannot recommend this conference enough. I learned a ton and came home with pages and pages of notes. In fact, so much material was covered, I'm not ready to blog about it yet. I need to go through my notes and pull pictures from my camera, so look for a post on the academy to hit the blog Wednesday. Why not tomorrow? Easy. Tomorrow I will be interviewing Rachel Vincent , the amazing author behind the Shifters and Soul Screamers series. You don't want to miss this one, so make sure you stop by the blog tomorrow.  And speaking of interviews, I'm being interviewed over at All Things Urban Fantasy today . (Yes, today. Go read it !) Leave a comment or question to enter the drawing for a signed copy of Grave Witch. Also, my interview at Penguin.com  is now live! Find out more about Death, who I'd talk...

Wow. It's September. That totally caught me off guard. In that case, someone give me a hand with these balloons, and please, help yourself to some virtual chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne because it's BLOG PARTY TIME! For the next month and a half we are going to keep the blog hopping with special guests, cool contests, and exciting events. To kick things off, I have two announcements: Firstly, I am very pleased to present an extended excerpt of Grave Witch ! I know I've been teasing you with just the first two pages for the last few months, but I've now posted the full first chapter. I hope you enjoy! Secondly,  I would like to quickly share with you a  list of guests you can look forward to seeing during the Blog Party: (Guest list subject to change. Listed in order of planned appearance) Kelly Gay , author of the Charlie Madigan series . Lucienne Diver , author of the Vamped series. M. K. Hobson , author of Native Star. Mar...

I have been behaving recently and not checking my sales rank on a regular basis, (okay, so 'behaving' actually means my deadlines are looming dangerously close and I haven't had time to cyber stalk my own sales) so when I received a message from my publisher letting me know Twice Dead had reached #2 on Fictionwise's  Bestselling Dark Fantasy list, I was taken completely by surprise. Wow, I totally hid the exciting information in the middle of that excessively long sentence. Let me try that again. Twice Dead is the #2 on Fictionwise's Bestselling Dark Fantasy List ! (That's better. ^_^) Okay, sorry, I had to take a short break and dance around my living room--again. Thank you everyone who has ordered the book! I hope you enjoy it! It looks like many of you are also picking up Once Bitten for the first time too, because Once Bitten has climbed to #12 on the Dark Fantasy list. Yes, I have two books in the top twenty dark fantasy bestsellers! To celebrate, I...

Well, the kindle version of books usually takes longer than the print version to become available, but in a strange turn of events, the kindle version for Twice Dead has shown up first. So, if you have a kindle, you can read Twice Dead HERE . To celebrate the release, I'm running a week long contest here on the blog. Here is what I'll be giving away: Three lucky winners will get your choice of one (1) of the following items. (I only have one of each available, so this will be a first picked, first choice kind of deal) -$15 Amazon OR Barnes and Noble Gift Card. -Twice Dead Promotional Mug -Twice Dead Promotional Notebook To enter, simply write a review for the first Haven novel, Once Bitten , and publish it somewhere on the web. Then leave a comment in this post linking to the review. You can review the book on your blog, on Amazon/B&N/BAM/Borders, Goodreads, Library thing, etc. If you have previously reviewed the book, feel free to link to that review. (If yo...

I have now uploaded an except from Twice Dead. If you would like to read the first chapter, check it out HERE . Enjoy! I'll upload the second chapter closer to the release date, so check back often. And remember, Twice Dead will be available in print and electronically February 2010!

I found out this morning that ONCE BITTEN is currently #1 on Amazon's Fantasy list and Horror list!! Thank you everyone who took advantage of the Christmas special on the kindle edition of the book. I hope you enjoy the read, and be on the look out for the sequel, TWICE DEAD, which will be released in February!

I'm thrilled to say that I have received permission to release the cover art for TWICE DEAD, book two in the Haven Series. I think my publisher did an amazing job with this cover, so I hope you like it just as much. TWICE DEAD will be released in late February, so look for more updates soon!

So things have been really crazy recently, and the last week I've been rather quiet on twitter for fear I would get too excited and say too much, but I can finally release my news. I am very happy to announce that I have signed with ROC/ACE for a brand new urban fantasy series! The first book in the series (tentatively titled GRAVE WITCH) is about a broke magic-eye for hire whose case with a sexy reaper, a dark cop, and a ghost-silencing killer has more than her rent on the line - it may cost her soul. I do not have information about release dates yet, but I promise to post more information as it comes available. Happy Tuesday Everyone! (Now to go bury myself in revisions again. I have an October 1st deadline I'm racing.)

I've dropped hints that I've had news of late, and as I now have a signed contract in my hands, I'm finally ready to share. It is my pleasure to announce that I am being represented by the amazing Lucienne Diver of The Knight Agency ! She is currently shopping a new series for me, so hopefully I will have more exciting news to share with you soon. In other news, I will be speaking at a local high school tomorrow on the importance/joy of reading. This will be a first for me, and I'm very excited. Now to be girly and waste massive amounts of time fretting over what to wear. ^_^ Switching gears again, I already announced this on the Tri Mu site, but I some how neglected to mention it here (I know, I know, my blog readers are supposed to get news first! Forgive me.) The title for the second book in my Dark Haven series has been approved. It will be called TWICE DEAD and will be released in February 2010 . I have seen a mock-up of the cover, and the book is going...

You probably remember my teasing post a couple weeks ago about something big in the horizon. Well, I am finally ready for the big reveal . . . I have signed a contract for five more books with Bell Bridge Books! At least four of the books in the contract will be in the Haven series, so if you enjoyed ONCE BITTEN , look for Kita and Nathanial to be back in a new book this Winter! More news to come soon, so check back.

I have big news today (and if you read the title to this post, you probably already know what it is.) My editor wrote me a couple days ago to let me know I'd probably see Once Bitten listed at online stores by the end of the week. I have been extremely nervous since then, and of course, checking the major sites a couple times a day. Well, this morning I discovered both Barnes & Noble and Amazon have Once Bitten up and listed for sale! This news makes me both extremely happy and even more nervous. Now it's out there. People can read it. I can make a rough estimate of everyone who read it before today--it's a relatively small pool of people, and while I don't know all of them, I have some idea who they are. Now the book is out there and has to sink or swim on its own. I hope people love it, but I'm realistic enough know not everyone will. Is there a word to describe feeling both terrified and ecstatic? I wonder if every book release will feel this way? Okay. T...

Well, I'm back after an extended break over the holidays. (I spent most of my time lacking internet, so I'm still catching up on emails and blogs.) During the break, my publisher sent me a full cover copy of my book. Doesn't it look good? I also received and returned my Author Alterations over the holidays, so my input on Once Bitten is officially over. The book is now off to the printers, and I guess I'll see the first copy of it soon. I'm excited. I hope everyone had a great holiday. Anyone have exciting resolutions for the New Year?
