Getting out is good but . . .

Recently I have spent far too much time locked in my office, escaping only for hooping related events. Now don't get me wrong, I love my office (and I love my ability to stay locked in it). And my office has everything I need. But sometimes having everything I need at my fingertips is exactly what I don't need. Sometimes I just need to change things up a bit.

Today was definitely one of those days (and tomorrow will likely be too).  It was time to shake off the gloom creeping over my shoulders from too many hours spent at the same little desk tucked away in a corner and just get out. Not to take a break from writing but to get back into it.

So, I packed up my laptop and my ipod and headed for one of my favorite places: the bookstore. Oh the dangers of the bookstore. I did get some good writing done (or, at least, I pumped out a decent number of words. Whether they are 'good' is a discussion for another time.) and I got a chance to discuss matters of various importance with two of my critique partners, so the trip was a success. But, the thing about bookstores is that they sell books--my ultimate weakness. LOL

Really, I didn't so so bad. The image to the right is the damage--all books I'm looking forward to, all by authors I love, and all sequels. The problem? I used to read several books a week, now I'm doing well if I manage more than a couple a month. My TBR just keeps growing. I might have to find another place to hide out with my laptop tomorrow. ^_^

In other news, TWICE DEAD is now available at Fictionwise, so if you are looking for an electronic non-kindle version, check it out HERE. Speaking of kindle (and thus amazon) THANK YOU everyone who has already ordered the book. The book's sales rank has been absolutely awesome. (I mean, I wouldn't compulsively hit refresh on the amazon page several times a day to check on that--what are you talking about? *innocent smile*) I hope you enjoy the continuation of Kita's story!

Also, lots of people are writing to ask about the next Haven novel, THIRD BLOOD. My publisher hasn't set a release date yet. It could be out as early as November of this year, but a more practical guess is January 2011. In the mean time, if you are interested, GRAVE WITCH, the first book in my new series, will be released by Roc in October, so be on the look out for more information about that book coming soon!

Happy hump day everyone!

[Edited To Add] I almost forgot! Want to win a copy of TWICE DEAD? My critique partner is giving one away in this week's From My Bookshelf to Yours. Go check it out!

After months of abstinence, I have yet to go to the bookstore for that very reason. For me, it's like dropping a crack whore in the middle of a cocaine jungle. But with my TBR mountain finally returning to pile size, I might make one trip weekend. But only one. ;-)
