NaNo Day 4

It has been a crazy busy day. At work I'm wrapping up everything I can and preparing things to be taken over by the new 'me' (whoever that turns out to be) so I ran around in crisis mode most the day, just trying to keep up. There were errands to take care of at lunch, so I lost my extremely important writing hour. Luckily, there was a write in tonight, and I pumped out some much needed words.

I would really like to be building a bit of a cushion right now so that I'm ahead when my revision notes hit, but currently, I'm just scrapping by with the minimum daily word count. I can deal with that.

I'm enjoying this story. Every scene I write leads me to new discoveries about my characters and plot. It is a lot of fun. But, I need to do some research at some point. I keep inserting words like "SHOES" which I intend to replace with a name brand. The thing is, unlike my character, I know absolutely nothing about big name fashion. Anyone out there know anything about designer shoes? Particularly ones that would interest posh and preppy teenage girls?

After my rather tiring day, I think I'm going to turn in early. Here is my current word count:

6757 / 50000 words. 14% done!

Week one is now more than halfway over. How is everyone doing?

Today was 3341 words of torture, putting my total at 9507 in 4 days. Why did I want to do this again? It's not NaNoWriMo that's the problem really. I can do 1700 words before breakfast without much effort. It's that a friend of mine challenged me to 75,000 words in 30 days instead of 50,000. And the past few days I've been slacking and need to catch up. A 2500 word day is challenging for me but doable...but this catching up is hard. It's too much like work and writing is supposed to be fun.

And to add to it - I did some writing today that wasn't part of my word count. I'm part of an open adoption bloggers list and our twice monthly prompt came out today.

Now my brain is mush...

6,017 words. Need to write more, but got a nice spontaneous plot twist in there. Might help later on. Saving next awkward scene for tomorrow after a good night's rest.

Doing alright at this end. Trying not to think about where I am word count wise as compared to where I theoretically should be. :)

Enjoying the process, at any rate.

Congrats on the words!

Prada, Gucci, and Versace, that's all I know. ;-) When in doubt, pick a random Italian name. It works.

So I am quite proud of myself at this point. I managed to not only catch up, but ended day four with about 200 more words than I actually needed. Padding is good. Especially since I'm already feeling burnout hit. My brain is mushy and I feel like I'm walking around like a zombie space cadet. NaNo WriMo lesson #1: Do not write nothing but tense fighting and argument scenes for two days straight, or else you'll start to feel as stressed out as your characters! Tonight, light subject matter.

I know lots about shoes! :-D Manolo Blahnik's, Jimmy Choo, etc. Am I drooling yet? ;-)

I'm behind in my word count. I'm about to shoot you an e-mail.

today i got in 891 words in half an hour.So my grand total so far is 12,759/50,000.

is it normal for the word count on the NaNo site to have less words then the word count on Word? Because I have 12,759 on Word but 12,756 on the NaNo Counter.

Today 2081, putting my word count up to 6154. I'm still winging my story but a plot is materializing. I'm getting excited about the outcome.
